Farah Alvin, Natalie Venetia Belcon & More Set For Off-Broadway’s The Last Smoker in America

Casting is complete for the off-Broadway musical comedy The Last Smoker in America, which will star Farah Alvin as Pam, Natalie Venetia Belcon as Phyllis, John Bolton as Ernie and Jake Boyd as Jimmy. Featuring a book by Tony nominee Bill Russell and music by Peter Melnick, performances begin July 11 at the Westside Theatre. Directed by Andy Sandberg, opening night is set for August 2.

In a world where smoking has recently been outlawed and the penalties are growing stricter by the minute, The Last Smoker in America is the story of Pam (Alvin), a woman trying desperately to quit. While her husband Ernie (Bolton) dreams of being a rock star and her son Jimmy (Boyd) listens to so much rap music he thinks he’s black, Pam finds herself being pushed to the edge of reason. Will Pam kick the habit or fight for her right to light up?

Alvin’s Broadway credits include Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Nine and The Look of Love. She has appeared off-Broadway in The Marvelous Wonderettes. Belcon’s Broadway credits include Rent and Avenue Q. Bolton has appeared on Broadway in Damn Yankees, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Titanic, Contact, Spamalot and Curtains. Boyd appeared off-Broadway in Carrie.

The Last Smoker in America features set design by Charles Corcoran, costume design by Michael McDonald, lighting design by Grant Yeager, sound design by Bart Fasbender and choreography by AC Ciulla.
